What is precision engineering?

Precision engineering is the design and production of parts with tolerances measured in microns, that’s one thousandth of a millimetre.

Designing precision components that have low engineering tolerances and offer long-term stability requires many considerations such as positioning of features and load limits. However, precision engineering not only allows us to design and manufacture these long-life components, it also allows us to mass produce precision parts.

What are the benefits of precision engineering?

Precision engineering has been around for hundreds of years in one format or another. In the modern world, it allows us to not only mass produce precision components but also increase business efficiencies, reduce waste, eliminate human error and create new and unique precision parts.

We are able to produce one-of-a-kind components using precision engineering machines and high-tech design tools pre-production. We have experience with a lot of companies within the medical sector needing innovative parts created, usually within short time scales, and precision engineering techniques mean we are always able to service them with unique parts in a quick turnaround.

However, being able to provide a speedy service doesn’t ever mean we compromise on quality. The DPC factory has industry-leading precision engineering CNC machines which allow us to meet high demand while maintaining perfect precision components.

With this fast turnaround it means we are able to be much more efficient in our processes across the board. This is supported by the minimal waste produced by the precision engineering process.

Because the precision engineering process is automated through industry-leading technology and machinery, the room for human error is reduced which also supports reduction in waste product.
